WhatsApp now native on desktops

Starting from 10 May, 2016, WhatsApp, the Facebook-owned, and the world’s most popular instant messaging app, will be natively supported on desktops. By desktop, I mean standard desktops and laptops running Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Apple’s OS X 10.9. If you use Windows 7 or earlier versions, you have been lucked out of this new capability. That is, you will not be able to have a native WhatsApp app on your system. GSMA warns mobile operators over subscribers’

The GSMA’s Director -General Mats Granryd The global association of GSM operators, GSMA, has said mobile operators across the world must keep the protection of subscriber privacy “at the front of their thinking.” The GSMA’s Director -General Mats Granryd said the new challenges already on the horizon shouldn’t be an excuse to violate their subscribers’ privacies. Granryd, according to a statement from GSMA media team, told an audience at the GSMA mobile 360 - privacy & security at the Hague, Switzerland that, in addition to privacy, operators have to secure subscriber data, act transparently, ensure private communications stay that way and assure financial transactions are carried out safely.

There have been reports that the government is considering the establishment of grazing reserves across the country as a way of ending Fulani herdsmen attacks on farmers and residents of their host communities. The proposal has, however, met stiff resistance from individuals and some state governments especially in the southern part of the country, who believed that the creation of grazing reserves would give the rampaging herdsmen the opportunity to increase their attacks.
