Liverpool Make £12.5m Bid for Southampton’s Right Back, Clyne

Liverpool have made an improved £12.5m offer for Southampton’s right-back Nathaniel Clyne. Last month, the Saints rejected a £10m bid from the Merseyside outfit for the England international. Southampton are understood to be holding out for a £15m bid for the 24-year-old defender, who scored one of his two Premier League goals at Anfield this season and made 35 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s men.

President Muhammadu Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with immediate effect. The directive to this effect was conveyed in a letter signed today, 26th June, 2015 by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi. In it, the President thanked members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation.

Taye Taiwo has claimed that some Nigerian players offer coaches gifts, so they can be selected for the national team. “Unlike others, I didn’t offer gifts to the Nigeria coach to be selected,” he told Football Africa 365. “Unfortunately, it’s still happening.” Now 30 years of age, the former Queens Park Rangers and AC Milan man, says he will never give anyone gifts to feature for the Super Eagles.

Swiss court rejects FIFA official’s bail request

One of seven soccer officials arrested in Zurich last month on suspicion of racketeering following a U.S. extradition request has had a request for bail rejected, with a Swiss court saying on Friday he posed a “risk of flight”. The officials were detained in a dawn raid on May 27 on a luxury Zurich hotel two days before FIFA’s annual Congress, throwing soccer’s governing body into turmoil. They have since been held in prisons around the Zurich region.
