430,000 PVCs Yet To Be Released To Lagos, Says Orebiyi

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is yet to release 430,000 Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, to Lagos State. PVCs This was disclosed by the INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, to Lagos, Akin Orebiyi today while demonstrating the use of the Card Reader Machine to Governor Babatunde Fashola at the State House, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. Orebiyi disclosed that 430,000 PVCs were still being awaited from Abuja for Lagos, saying hopefully, the PVCs would arrive Lagos next week.

Ebonyi Assembly Serves Gov Elechi Impeachment Notice

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Friday morning set in motion the process to remove the state Governor, Elder Martin Elechi, by serving him an impeachment notice for acts of gross misconduct. Reading the notice at the plenary, the acting leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nwifruru, accused Governor Elechi of huge financial misappropriation, undermining of the integrity of the House, among other offences.

3 Women Killed As Customs Knocks Bus Off Highway

•Another woman who died in the accident Three ladies aged between 25 and 30 years died Thursday afternoon after the hummer bus in which they were travelling was knocked off the Lagos-Benin highway by an operational vehicle driven by operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service. The commuter bus with registeration number EDO AKA 35 LG carrying second hand clothes also known as okirika, summersaulted during a hot chase by Customs officials from the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja from one of their checkpoints in Ijebu Ode.

ISIS Plans To Radicalize Nigerian Youths Schooling Abroad – FG

The Federal government, yesterday, raised alarm over alleged plan by Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) to radicalise Nigerian youths schooling abroad using social media, among other sources. Senate slashes subsidies on kerosene, petrol by N145bn

Senate President David Mark The Senate on Wednesday, slashed the allocation for petrol and kerosene subsidies presented by the Ministry of Finance in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework for 2015 – 2017. The upper chamber, while approving the MTEF, slashed petrol subsidy from N200 billion to N100 billion. It also reduced the subsidy allocated to kerosene from N91.08 billion to N45.52 billion.
