Over the weekend Davido and Sophia Momodu ‘s daughter, Imade, celebrated her first birthday with a star-studded and super fun party. The party was held after a thanksgiving earlier in the day. While Sophia Momodu was spotted at the thanksgiving, a number of people noted that she wasn’t spotted in any photos from the evening party and NETng exclusively reported that that Sophia Momodu was “bounced” from the birthday party.

Facebook launches Free Basics in Nigeria while Zimbabwe launch still awaits approval

Facebook continues with its quest to offer the word free internet through its Internet.org initiative. Just recently it launched its Free Basics service in Nigeria through a partnership with the country’s third largest operator, Airtel. Nigeria becomes the 40th country in the world and the latest in Africa to provide the service which offers citizens free access to the internet through a portal that has selected international sites and any other local internet platform that decides to sign up.

Brig.-Gen. Sulyman Kazaure, Director-General, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), on Monday told the Senate that lack of funds may stall mobilising 2016 Batch A Stream 2 prospective corps members for orientation. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that orientation for the batch is expected to commence on Friday in 37 camps across the country. Kazaure told the Senate Committee on Sports in Abuja that the money required for the exercise was yet to be provided.

Obasanjo regretted not privatising NNPC when he was president – He said it is now a hub for corruption and advised President Buhari to privatise it – He noted that privatisation brought positive result during his time as president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) so as to put an end to the corruption in the industry. Obasanjo gave this advice at the opening ceremony of a two-day maritime stakeholders conference organized by the Ministry of Transportation and its agencies in Lagos on Monday, May 16.

The House of Representatives have called on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to shelve their planned protest against the recent increment in the pump price of fuel. The Federal Government announced the removal of subsidy and a subsequent increase in price of petrol to N145 on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. The resolution was moved by Hon. Nicholas Ossai, during a meeting with the minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu on Monday, May 16, 2016.
