Forgery: Charge against Saraki, Ekweremadu abuse of judicial process – Court

Photo: Gbemiga Olamikan The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has faulted the two-count forgery charge the Federal Government slammed against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and two others. The high court, in a ruling by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, held that the charge which was endorsed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, constituted a gross abuse of judicial process. FG had on June 27, docked Saraki and Ekweremadu before trial Justice Yusuf Halilu of an Abuja High Court at Jabi.

The search and rescue team raised following attack by gunmen suspected to be militants at oilfield in Bayelsa has recovered remains of two of the three oil workers that died in the incident. The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Bayelsa Command, Mr Desmond Agu, confirmed the development in Yenagoa on Saturday.

Investigators say voice recording from EgyptAir crash intact

 Egyptian investigators said Saturday they would be able to access the cockpit voice recordings of the EgyptAir flight that crashed in May despite damage to the black box. “None of the memory chips of the electronic board were damaged,” the Egyptians participating in the examination of the device in France said in a statement, adding that only some connecting components had to be replaced.

Islamic gunmen kill 20 before Bangladesh commandos end siege

 Islamic gunmen shouting "Allahu Akbar" attacked an upscale cafe in the Bangladeshi capital, killing 20 people inside, before police stormed the building on Saturday and rescued 13 hostages, officials said. The attack, claimed by Islamic State, marks a major escalation in a campaign by Islamic militants over the past 18 months that had targeted mostly individuals advocating a secular or liberal approach in mostly Muslim Bangladesh.
