The lunar eclipse phenomenon occurs as  the Earth's shadow passes over the face of the moon, turning it a dark red colour. Some religious premonitions are suggesting that the cosmic event could trigger  a "hugely significant event". So far, nothing earth-trembling has been reported - but just in case an end of days scenario does happen, make sure you relive the spectacular visual event with our gallery of pictures. Exclusivepix Worshipped: Amar Singh - the Indian boy who has grown a tail A six-year-old boy has grown a TAIL - and is now worshipped as a god-like figure in his local village. Amar Singh's 12-inch tail has been woven from a large patch of  thick black hair growing on the small of his back. Villagers in Nijmapur, in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, have hailed it as a sign that he is connected to the Hindu god Hanuman, a  monkey-like deity. His family claim that he was born with an anomalous patch of hair about one inch in length - which then grew over the years until he was able to plait it.

Mark Zuckerberg has been  a vocal critic  of the National Security Angecy for infringing on the rights of online users. But how often has Facebook cooperated with government agencies to censor free speech online? According to Facebook itself, quite often. The company released  a transparency report  on Friday, and the section on censorship is rather long and troubling. For instance, Facebook registered 4,765 censorship requests from the Indian government between last July and December alone. The social networking site's policy is that people around the world have to abide by their local freedom of speech laws; so in the case of India, Facebook identifies and removes anything that might constitute religious blasphemy.

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards were handed out Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The night kicked off with Jared Leto winning biggest on-screen transformation for Dallas Buyers Club -- a role for which he also earned an Oscar earlier this year. Conan O'Brien hosted the event, which aired live on MTV. Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum also were honored during the ceremony. The complete list of winners, as voted by fans, is below. Seven Undergraduates Arrested in EFCC Raid

A surprise dawn raid on two houses in the Lekki area of Lagos on April 6, 2014, led to the arrest of seven suspects, all undergraduates of some of the nation’s tertiary institutions. The undergraduates, include Elete Fred Debi, a 500-level student of Physics/Production Technology of the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. Others are: Ese Iriruaga, 300-level student of Geology, Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State; Couson Jimmy, 300-level student of Computer Science, Benson Idahosa, University, Benin-City, Edo State; Anthony Onos, 200-level student of Political Science, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos State; Omene Stephen, 200-level student of Computer Science, University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State; Kome Emmanuel, 200-level student of Petroleum Engineering, University of Port-Harcourt and Shola Muyiwa of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta State. They were picked in two houses at Lekki, in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State

Eagles midfielder dedicates goal to Abuja victims

Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder, Eddy Onazi has dedicated the goal he scored in Sunday’s 4-2 defeat to Napoli to the victims of an explosion in Nigeria. The blasts occurred early on Monday morning at the Nyanya bus park near the country’s capital, Abuja, reportedly killing dozens of people. “I dedicate my goal to the victims of the explosion, that happened this morning,”Onazi wrote on his official Twitter account. “I hope by the grace of God the families have the strength needed to manage everything.”

Gunmen Invade APC Leader’s Home in Bayelsa, Kill One

Gunmen in the early hours of Monday invaded the home of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Bayelsa State, killing one person in the ensuing shoot out.  the deceased, said to be about 18 years of age, was gunned down in front of the house of Mr. Godwin Sidi, a former youth leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-south geo-political zone. Although it could not be confirmed if the target was Sidi or someone else, the victim was said to have been trying to enter Sidi’s home when he was killed. When contacted, Sidi popularly known as Godsidi, expressed concern over the incident and alleged that the gun battle was deliberate and he was the target. According to him, the attack may not be unconnected with  his political affiliation and recent comments against the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson. PDP ABUJA BOMB BLAST •  APGA urges security agents to fish out culprits Chuks Okocha and Onyebuchi Ezigbo  The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday condemned the dawn bomb attack on a bus park in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and described the incident as barbaric, monstrous and extremely wicked.  The party also accused the All Progressives Congress(APC) of egging on terrorists through the utterances of its chieftains who it said were obsessed with wresting power from President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which also condemned the bomb attack, called on security agents to fish out those behind the dastard act. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement said the party was shocked and had remained grief-stricken since it received the news of the gruesome attack that had led to the death of 71 people and left 124 others with varying degree of injuries. Oscar Pistorius trial: Prosecutor Gerrie Nel queries tears

The prosecutor at the Oscar Pistorius murder trial has suggested the South African athlete is using his emotions “as an escape”. He broke down in tears four times on Monday and had also vomited in court. “Now you trying to be emotional and it’s not working,” said prosecutor Gerrie Nel. Mr Pistorius admitted killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February last year, but said he fired his gun after mistaking her for an intruder. Mr Nel said the Olympic sprinter, 27, had deliberately shot Ms Steenkamp, a model, after the couple had had an argument. As the prosecutor resumed his cross-examination on Monday, he accused Mr Pistorius of “tailoring his evidence” as he went along to suit the defence case, which had been “concocted”.

Women declare war on Ogogoro

  On March 28, women under the aegis of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), St. Anthony Parish, Nguru, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, staged a protest against the sale and consumption of local gin, popularly known as Ogogoro or kaikai in their community. They alleged that the substance had rendered their men useless to the extent of abdicating their responsibility as breadwinners of their families. The women complained that if the consumption of the substance was left unchecked, the biblical injunction: “Go and procreate and fill the earth,” would soon come under serious threat because the substance had rendered many of their men impotent. Those who had not completely become impotent, the women alleged, were knocking on the door of impotency, as many of them hardly meet up with  their conjugal duties.

Nyanya Bombings: NEMA Gives Update on Casualty Figures, Hospitals

Senator Iroegbu The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other response agencies have  carried out an update of the dead  as well as the  injured victims of the early morning blasts at the Nyanya Motor Park taken to various hospitals in Abuja and the environs. Further to the evacuation and to ensure adequate care for the injured, the Director General Mohammed,  Sani Sidi, has visited some of the hospitals with directive that adequate and free media treatments should  be provided to all the victims. Meanwhile, the agency in collaboration with other response agencies have provided the details of the casualty in various hospitals: including Abuja Clinic with four injured victims, Nyanya General  Hospital has 11, Customs Hospital, Karu 14 injured  and one dead, Asokoro has 25 injured  and 27 dead, Maitama Hospital -  27 injured with 14 dead victims.

Sesan directs video for US rapper

Los Angeles - Ace music director Sesan Ogunro has finished directing a music video for rapper French Montana in the United States. Sesan posted a picture on his Instagram of himself and French Montana on set and wrote “French Montana directed by Sesan”  French Montana is reportedly dating Khloe Kardashian.  Sesan Ogunro has directed videos for some of the big names in the Nigerian music industry including Wande Coal, D'banj, Davido, Wizkid and Banky W.

Cairo bomb attack wounds 2 cops, civilian

Cairo - Two Egyptian policemen and a civilian were wounded in a bomb attack targeting a security checkpoint in central Cairo on Tuesday, officials and a medic said. The device, which was placed between two cars near the checkpoint at Al-Galaa Square in Dokki neighbourhood, exploded at about 07:15, a security official said. Previously, security officials said that assailants threw a homemade bomb at the checkpoint. Egypt has been rocked by a series of bombings and shootings carried out by militants since the military ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in July. The military-installed authorities say militants have killed about 500 people since the overthrow of Morsi.

APC hits back at bomb blast accusation

Abuja - The All Progressives Congress, which has been accused of involvement in the Abuja bomb blast, has urged the Federal Government to urgently convene a national stakeholders' security summit to help find a lasting solution to the spate of terror killings in the country. In a statement issued in Lagos by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party expressed its shock and sadness at the "savagery" of the attack, while consoling with the families of those killed and praying for a quick recovery for the injured. It said it was now obvious that all efforts so far to tackle the insurgency in the country had not yielded much results. It said the People's Democratic Party-led Federal Government lacked the capacity and had clearly run out of ideas on how to tackle the violence. “It is time for new thinking, new an idea to stop this insurgency before it consumes all of us.
