Disney/Marvel "Guardians of the Galaxy" is still going strong at the box office after a month in theaters. " Guardians of the Galaxy " is now officially the highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office for the year, and until the next "Hunger Games" sequel is out in November, it will most likely stay in that position. The quirky action comedy, the latest in a string of hits from Marvel Studios and Disney, has now made more than $550 million worldwide after topping the box office for several weekends in a row. It still has yet to open in China.

On Monday, Google started sending out press invites to the launch event in India for Android One, its new super-cheap smartphone. Google is hoping to deliver a solid smartphone experience for less than $100. Google's strategy is to work with smartphone developers in emerging markets and to provide them with up-to-date versions of its free Android software so they can make great phones at low prices. It's the polar opposite strategy of Apple's, which has the company gearing up for the release of the iPhone 6, likely to cost $700. The market for cheap smartphones is burgeoning. In the West, smartphones are ubiquitous, but in the developing world, most people don't have them.

A mother has beaten odds of a million-to-one by giving birth to a baby who appears to be of a different race.Catherine Howarth, 32, from Milton Keynes, is Nigerian by heritage, and so was, at first, a little taken aback when she saw her son Jonah for the first time. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has arrested a syndicate of scammers for attempting to defraud Enterprise Bank Plc. Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said, “The suspect compromise the bank’s system and steal depositors’ funds using an electronic device known as Keelog Key Grabber. “The trio’s arrest was made possible by an insider who revealed to the bank’s management that some fraudsters were planning to gain access to its network, using Keelog Key Grabber.” It was learnt that an employee of the of the bank was contacted by one of the suspected fraudsters, who proposed a business arrangement to him on how to hack into the system of the bank. Uwujaren said the worker informed the management of the bank and he was instructed to play along with the fraudster.

Chris Brown was in court today and according to reports, he accepted a plea deal in his Washington D.C. assault case. Chris Brown pleaded guilty, and telling the judge he just wants this case to go away so he can go on tour. Brown had been charged with misdemeanor assault for punching a man in the face outside his tour bus last October. The judge sentenced him to time already served. Brown apologized in court … saying the case had derailed his career for the past year. Chris Brown’s girlfriend Karrueche was also in the courtroom lending moral support.” TMZ reports…

A longtime member of CNN’s Baghdad bureau, Sarmad had to flee his country in 2006 after death threats, eventually settling in the United States and continuing his work for CNN based out of Atlanta. Worried by incessant road accidents and the attendant loss of human lives, the Akwa Ibom State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dragged 27 persons before a mobile court in Uyo for various traffic offences by the state. Briefing newsmen shortly after the trial, the state public relations officer of the command, Mr Godsgift Owen, said the offenders were put on trial for offences such as use of cell phone while driving, failure to wear seat belt, invalid drivers license, worn out tyres , absence of number plates, speed limit violation, dangerous driving, among others.

Microsoft has started increasing OneDrive’s file size limit from 2GB to an unknown new maximum. The change was first spotted by Reddit user megaman821 and confirmed by multiple replies on the site. We got in touch with Microsoft to confirm the change. “As we mentioned on our uservoice, we have started the work to increase the file size limit for all OneDrive accounts,” a Microsoft spokesperson told TNW. “We have started the process with a small number of customers and will continue to roll it out to our full customer base. We will have more to share on this update in the near future, stay tuned to the OneDrive blog.”

A Chinese anti-trust regulator said on Monday it has given Microsoft Corp ( MSFT.O ) 20 days to reply to queries on the compatibility of its Windows operating system and Office software suite amid a probe into the world's largest software company. The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) questioned Microsoft Vice President David Chen and gave the company a deadline to make an explanation, the agency said in a short statement on its website. Microsoft is one of at least 30 foreign companies that have come under scrutiny by China's anti-monopoly regulators as the government seeks to enforce its six-year old antitrust law. Critics say the law is being used to unfairly target overseas businesses, a charge the regulators deny.

Google has started showing old versions of its search page to people using out-of-date versions of some web browsers. At the weekend, many people reported in a Google forum they were seeing 2013 versions of the Google and image search homepages when using older browsers.
