Street hawkers in Lagos State have called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to go back on the decision of his government to strictly enforce the law prohibiting hawking in the state.   Shares in Nigeria's Skye Bank sank to a three-month low on Friday, as investors continued to sell after the central bank replaced Skye's top executives this week. Skye Bank shed 8.4 percent on its second day of trading after the central bank's intervention on Monday. The regulator replaced Skye's bosses after it failed to meet capital requirements. Skye shares fell 9.7 percent on Monday, before the stock market closed for three days for a holiday. The shares are down 40 percent this year, to levels last seen in April. Nigeria's eighth biggest bank, Skye grew to systemically important size after it acquired Mainstreet Bank in 2014.

 South Korea and the United States said on Friday they would deploy an advanced missile defence system in South Korea to counter a threat from North Korea, drawing a sharp and swift protest from neighbouring China. The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, anti-missile system will be used only as protection against North Korea's growing nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, the South's Defence Ministry and the U.S. Defence Department said in a joint statement.

Unions representing oil workers in Nigeria are currently at loggerheads over their planned strike action. A strike action proposed by members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) was supposed to commence on Thursday however it was shelved by the body. The group said it abandoned the strike in order to give its leadership time to meet with the Nigerian government’s delegation and table their grievances.

 Suspected militants have blown up an oil pipeline belonging to a subsidiary of Italy’s Eni, Nigerian Agip Oil Company in Lasukugbene area of Bayelsa state, Punch reports.
