Osun Workers Declare Fresh Strike Over Incomplete Payment

Workers in Osun State have declared a fresh strike barely 24 hours after the suspension of a previous two-month industrial action. It was gathered that the labour leaders declared the strike after discovering that only 50 per cent of salaries were paid to Grade Level 8 and above workers.

Liberia confirms new Ebola case as outbreak spreads

A Liberian woman has died of Ebola in a hospital in Monrovia shortly after being admitted, becoming the sixth confirmed case and second death since the virus resurfaced last month, a senior medical official said on Tuesday The victim, Kebbeh Kollie, lived near the capital, Monrovia. She was the sister of Cassius Kollie, one of five Ebola cases discovered in neighbouring Margibi County, where the disease re-emerged after a seven-week lull.

FG declares July 17, 20 holidays for Sallah

The Federal Government has declared July 17 and 20, 2015, as public holidays to mark id-el-fitr sallah celebration. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, who made the declaration on Tuesday in Abuja, enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which include love, peace and sacrifice to the development of the nation.

World can end AIDS by 2030 – UN

The UN has said the world can end the AIDS epidemic within 15 years, but senior officials said that would only be possible by breaking the pharmaceutical industries “tight grip” on government policies. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said reaching the goal would be difficult but achievable in a report released in Ethiopia on Tuesday.
