Seriake Dickson The Governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson, has lambasted his colleague governors, especially Chibuike Amaechi and Jonah Jang of Rivers and Plateau States respectively, for ​​”destroying” the governors’ forum. He tackled the outgoing governors for their role in the crisis that engulfed the ​​forum since 2013, and for attempting to hold fresh elections for new leaders just days before end of their tenures.​ ​Mr. Dickson ​urged his colleagues to shelve the idea of electing​ a​ new set of officials for the Nigeria Governors Forum until after the handover of power on May 29.

*Onyeka Onwenu  Renown artist, Onyeka Onwenu, has dismissed as false reports that she had a shouting match with Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, for allegedly having access to the Presidential Villa without reverting to her. In a statement made available to Vanguard, Onwenu, who is the Director General of the National Centre for Women Development, described the report as a lie from the pit of hell, adding that she had never had a spat with Ozokwor.

Burundi president Nkurunziza sacks ministers amid protests over election bid

President Pierre Nkurunziza is seeking a third term which opponents say is unconstitutional Burundi's president has sacked three cabinet ministers, as protests resumed after last week's failed coup. A spokesman for the president told the BBC that President Pierre Nkurunziza had dismissed his defence, external relations and trade ministers in a cabinet reshuffle on Monday. It comes amid protests against the president running for a third term in elections due next month. Mr Nkurunziza returned from Tanzania last week after a failed coup.

The 25-year-old beat Cote d’Ivoire’s Max-Alain Gradel (Saint-Etienne)and Tunisia’s Aymen Abdennour (Monaco) to the Marc-Vivien Foe Trophy. It is set to be the last thing he will achieve as a Marseille players as he has stated he is leaving the club at the end of the season.
