A pregnant St. Louis woman lost use of her left eye and is partially blind in her right after officers fired a non-lethal bean bag at her vehicle. Dornella Conners tells KMOV that she was parked at a BP gas station with her boyfriend, De’Angeles Lee, not far from a Ferguson-related protest when she was struck. “I didn’t have any weapons. I wasn’t looting or anything,” Conners told reporters. “I was just out with my boyfriend and we were just riding around and you know, respecting Mike Brown.”

The Emir of Kano, Mohammed Sanusi II, who usually prays at the mosque was absent from the mosque during the explosion. Details of casualties are still sketchy but many are feared dead.

ABU 1st class graduate shot dead by policeman in girlfriend 'fight'

Aminu tried to defend his girlfriend from a policeman who was assaulting her. Unfortunately, the policeman turned on him and shot him dead before fleeing the scene. A thirty-one-year old first class graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria,Moses Murtala Aminu, has been shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman identified as Alex Okpe, in Kaduna. Student Pulse gathered from a Vanguard report quoting eyewitnesses that the late Aminu met his untimely death on Sunday while challenging a police constable who was beating up his girlfriend at a party venue in Barnawa area of the state.

Keshi Stephen Keshi will be given a new contract by the Nigeria Football Federation despite failing to qualify Nigeria for next year’s African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea, an official has said. There have been calls for Keshi to be replaced as Super Eagles coach, just as Samson Siasia was three years ago when he failed to lead the team to the 2012 AFCON. However, Keshi is now to be given a new contract, according to NFF executive committee member, Emeka Inyama. “The board has mandated the technical committee to finalise a contract for Keshi as he still remains the coach of Nigeria,” Inyama told africanFootball.com.

30 members of Boko Haram killed in Borno

Bomb Blast Kills 5 Solders, 35 Civilians In Mubi

About five soldiers and 35 other civilians were feared killed in a busy junction at Marrabar Mubi, about 18 kilometres from Mubi town when a bomb planted by the roadside went off, local sources say. Mubi was recently recaptured by Nigerian troops and local hunters. Reports from the area indicate that the incident happened at about 7pm when a detachment of Nigerian troops and local hunters were conducting routine supervision of the areas. Five local hunters in the convoy reportedly sustained injuries and were taken to Adamawa Specialist Hospital where they were treated and discharged. Military sources who confirmed the incident and said only five soldiers were killed while dozens of others sustained various degrees of injuries.

After getting admitted into an hospital in Sao Paolo for a urinary infection, Brazilian football legend Pele is now doing fine. A Pele adviser, Jose Fornos Rodrigues, said that the 74-year-old was “doing fine” and could be discharged as early as Friday. “The problem was that he was receiving too many visitors and that wasn’t helping, so they transferred him to a calmer area to continue receiving the proper treatment,” Rodrigues told the Associated Press. The hospital earlier sparked a scare by announcing that Pele had been taken to a special care unit because of “clinical instability”. That led to reports that the former striker’s condition had worsened but the hospital stated that he was not in intensive care.

THE Senate Thursday said that the allegation by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the National Assembly was using constituency projects to siphon the public funds was a total lie meant to denigrate the sanctity of the parliament. The Senate also claimed that it was the Obasanjo’s administration that approved the constituency projects to be built in the national budget which was executed by the executive. Speaking through its chairman on Information, Media and Public Affairs, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate described the allegation of corruption against it by the former president as unfortunate and an attempt to tarnish the image of the National Assembly. According to the statement, the Red Chamber said it was unfortunate that the former President would distort the issue of constituency projects as meaning a direct monetary advance to lawmakers and thus amounting to the “promotion of corruption” by the National Assembly.

Residents of Kukawa and Gubio villages in Borno state have fled their villages after they reportedly received a letter from Boko Haram informing them of an impending attack on their communities. A resident of the village, Modu Kaka who spoke with Sahara Reporters , said immediately they received the letter, thousands of residents fled. "They had attacked other local government areas around us. So when we received threat letters from Boko Haram that they would attack us soon, we all had to flee for our lives. We heard what happened to people in Damasak where a similar threat was made and carried by Boko Haram.” he said
