Israeli dies from injuries sustained in rock attack on car

 Israeli police say a Jewish man died from wounds sustained when rocks were thrown at his car. Spokeswoman Luba Samri said the man was injured early Monday as his vehicle was attacked while returning from a meal marking the Jewish new year. She said the identity of the attackers is unknown but are likely from a nearby Arab neighborhood.

tired: Teachers protest in the ongoing strike that has crippled learning in schools for two weeks now. I was sitting in a meeting when the newsflash went out, that President Uhuru had stated categorically that much as he understood the teachers’ plight, he simply was not going to honour the wage increase. I gasped. I couldn’t believe he had said it. Let’s be honest, a lot of us know the increment is truly well deserved and well overdue but we also know it can’t be implemented. The reason we haven’t spoken up - me included, is because we don’t want to be trolled.

Four die as building collapses on pupils

Scores of children may have been killed as a storey building in an Islamic school collapsed in Jos, the Plateau State capital on Sunday. Though the North Central Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Muhammed Abdulsalami, told our correspondent that only four of the pupils died, residents of the area insisted that the casualty figure was higher going by the number of pupils in the school when the building collapsed.

Ministerial list: Falana, Oyinlola, Odimegwu others undergo DSS screening

There are strong indications that the Department of State Service, (DSS) has completed a screening process for some of the ministerial nominees to make up the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. Among the list of those who were said to have been screened by the DSS are, former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, Femi Falana (SAN), a former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun and Former Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Limited, Mr. Festus Odimegwu.

Egypt security forces accidentally kill 12, including Mexican tourists

Egyptian security forces killed 12 Mexicans and Egyptians and injured 10 "by accident" on Monday, mistaking a tourist convoy for militants they were chasing in the country's western desert, the ministry of interior said. At least two Mexicans were killed, Mexico's foreign ministry said in a statement. A joint force from the Egyptian police and military was chasing militants in the country's vast western desert, which borders Libya, when it inadvertently opened fire on the convoy.
