Range Rover Sentinel: A luxury fortress on wheels

Armoured vehicles are just cool. Sure, to justify one you have to be full of your own importance or actually someone people want to kill. But at the end of the day driving around in something you could practically stroll through a war-zone in does have a certain appeal to it. Enter the Range Rover Sentinel with all the luxury you’d ever need, plus added TNT protection.

The Sentinel is the first luxury armoured vehicle to be fully engineered by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations. That name alone is enough to make James-Bond-wannabee’s drool.

Underneath the car is based on the Range Rover Autobiography, and so comes with all the luxury, comfort and off-road prowess one would normally associate with a Range Rover. Only added to that is its ability withstand the most damaging and targeted of threats including penetration by 7.62mm high velocity, armour piercing incendiary bullets. This exceptional vehicle delivers lateral protection against up to 15kg Trinitrotoluene (TNT) blasts and defence against DM51 grenade explosions from both beneath the floor and above the roof. And it’s certified for all this by an organisation that was formerly part of the British Government’s Defence Establishment Research Agency.

When it is time to leave in a hurry the considerable performance of its 250kW 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol motor should do the trick.

The Sentinel will be available in South Africa, and customers can visit their nearest Land Rover dealership to register their interest. Pricing is available on application. Cape to Cairo trip anyone?
