3 abducted Ikorodu schoolgirls freed

The three girls abducted from Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have been rescued. They were rescued Sunday morning at Igbo Okuta, Ikorodu, by a combined team of security operatives who had been combing the area since the unfortunate incident. The girls are Timilehin Olusa, Tofunmi Popoolaniyan, and Deborah Akinayo, all SS2 students. They were, however, shielded from the press because they were teenagers, but the police paraded three of their abductors at the State House, Ikeja.

Ex-IPMAN’s Scribe Advises NNPC On Fuel Scarcity

A former Secretary of the Ibadan Zone of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chief Folorunsho Alake, has advised the NNPC on steps to take to end the current fuel scarcity. Alake, who gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, on Thursday told the NNPC to revive its depots nationwide for smooth distribution of petroleum products. He said that even distribution of petroleum products would reduce unending queuing of petrol tankers in Lagos depots, end sharp practices and scarcity of fuel.

Lagos schoolgirls abduction: Pastor, bank robber among suspects arrested

A pastor was one of those arrested in connection with the abduction of three female students of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary in Ikorodu Lagos State last week Monday. Pastor Akanji Oluwaseun; Emmanuel Arigidi, 37; and James Henry, alias Segun Alabi Olatunde, were the suspects presented to journalists on Sunday by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni. Arigidi was among the dreaded bank robbers that unleashed hell in Lagos State last year. They robbed banks at Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac and Agbara.

Buhari Registers Nigeria In Islamic Coalition Against Terrorism

Nigeria will join the Saudi Arabia led coalition of Muslim countries against terrorism, President Muhammadu Buhari has said. President Buhari stated this in an interview with newsmen. “We are part of it because we have got terrorists in Nigeria that everybody knows which claims that they are Islamic,” the Nigerian president said in reference to Boko Haram, the group whose activities has caused the death of about 20,000 people since 2009.

More evidence that aspirin lowers risk of cancer − study

People who take aspirin regularly have a significantly lower risk of cancer, particularly involving the colon and gastrointestinal tract, according to US research published on Thursday. The findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Oncology suggest that aspirin use should complement − not replace − already established preventive screening measures such as colonoscopies.
