According to the company, Etisalat “will be the main data provider for Uber’s services, supporting the company’s growth in Nigeria.” Uber has launched across dozens of countries and cities, including in Africa, as part of the company’s push into new markets. However, in Europe, the company has faced a backlash from traditional taxi drivers and government regulators, which has led to the ride-sharing service being barred from entry into the market. In Nigeria, the push for Uber comes as the country is looking to bolster its IT sector even further and Etisalat hopes that it can help be a leader
