On Wednesday, the Nigerian Army’s 7 division General Court Martial convicted 54 soldiers for conspiracy to commit mutiny and mutiny and sentenced them to death by firing squad. A 26-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Olowu who was recently arrested at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God while trying to rob worshipers was paraded alongside other suspected armed robbers by the Ogun state Police command at the Force Head quarters in Abeokuta,yesterday December 18th. Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state's Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Emmanuel was apprehended with a toy gun, phones and money. Adejobi said the other suspects were arrested while carrying out robbery attacks in some towns in the state.

Reports reaching us reveal that the Oil workers under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Worker (NUPENG) have called off their four-day long industrial action. According to Premium Times, the National Executive Councils of the two unions agreed to suspend the strike after a long meeting on Thursday with federal government representatives which lasted till the early hours of Friday. Though details of the resolution were yet to be released, a senior national official of PENGASSAN in Abuja told reporters that the unions were able to extract “firm” commitments from the government with regards to their grievances.
