Nigerian Censors Board (NCB) Bans Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey’ which showed in most major cinemas in Nigeria in its first week of release, has been banned in Nigeria cinemas by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). NFVCB, according to cinemas, ordered the removal of the highly anticipated movie from the list of movies showing at cinemas.

INEC restates commitment on IDP voting

Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has re-assured Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) that they would exercise their civic rights in the upcoming general election. Retired Colonel Mohammed Hamanga, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Bauchi, Borno and Yobe states, stated this shortly after a tour of IDP camps in Maiduguri. He said that INEC was initially worried about the possibilities disenfranchising thousands of the IDPs who had been forced out of their homes by the prevailing insurgency.

Somalia: Double explosion in Mogadishu hotel kills 10

Not fewer than 10 people have died and several others injured in an attack on a hotel in the centre of the Somali capital Mogadishu, witnesses say. Two huge explosions followed by gunfire were heard at the Central Hotel, often visited by politicians. The city says the area has been cordoned off. Al-Shabab Islamist militants have said they were behind the attack - they are battling the UN-backed government for control of Somalia.

American rapper Wale wants to move into Nigeria

Apple plans to start production of an electric car by 2020, Bloomberg News reports, based on anonymous sources. The relatively short time frame to develop a new advanced-technology car from scratch may take the auto industry by surprise. Automakers can typically spend three to five years or longer to bring a new model to market. Apple would be doing it without having had any previous background in in the prickly world automaking, which is riven with complications ranging from myriad regulations to having to line up dozens of suppliers.

Embattled rap mogul Suge Knight was rushed to hospital from a courtroom for a second time on Thursday. The former Death Row label owner was taken from a Los Angeles courthouse to a local hospital during his latest court appearance. According to the New York Daily News, a courtroom source said that Knight was taken to hospital shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, in an ambulance closely followed by a car from the L.A.
