Naira Rain - Federal Govt, States to Share N391 Billion From Excess Crude Account

The federal government and the 36 states have agreed to share $1.7billion of the $2billion balance in the Excess Crude Account. After the amount, which is about N391billion,is shared, there will be just about $.3billion remaining in the account which was created to help the two tiers of government save for raining days.

Somali Militants Carry Out Deadly Attack in Northeast Kenya

Shabab militants killed 14 people and wounded 11 in the northeastern Kenyan town of Mandera on Tuesday, a government official said, the latest attack in the region by the Somali Islamist group. The attack took place around 2 a.m. at a camel market, according to residents, and most of the victims were miners from other parts of Kenya. “I can confirm an Al Shabaab attack in Mandera early this morning,” the police inspector general, Joseph Boinnet, said on Twitter . “Regrettably 14 persons dead and 11 injured.”

Boxer stripped of WBO welterweight world title for failing to comply with rules Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been stripped of the welterweight world title he won after beating Filipino Manny Pacquiao this year for failing to comply with rules, the World Boxing Organization said on Monday. Mayweather, who improved to 48-0 by beating Pacquiao in May, missed a deadline by which he had to pay a $200,000 sanctioning fee from the fight and vacate the junior middleweight title he also held, the WBO said in a statement.

Buhari okays N400bn bailout for unpaid salaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved more than N400 billion as an intervention fund to end the lingering crisis of unpaid workers’ salaries in about 18 states of the federation. According to Channels Television, the relief package also includes about N300 billion soft loan for states for the purpose of paying the backlog, About $2.1 billion of the money was said to be sourced from the recent Liquefied Natural Gas proceeds to the federation account.

NFF To Name Keshi’s Successor In Two Weeks

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has promised to name Stephen Keshi’s replacement in two weeks. This was disclosed on Monday by the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi. “Within the next one week or two, we should name a new coach,” Sanusi said. “We have a very important qualifier in September and we don’t want to waste too much time before we announce a substantive coach to take over.”

In the documents, Cosby admits under oath that he bought Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he wanted to fornicate with. The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

El-Rufai scraps State/Local Government joint account

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Monday announced termination of the State/Local Government Joint Account. El-Rufai, who made the disclosure while swearing-in chairmen of the Interim Management Committees of the 23 local councils, added that his government would remit 10 per cent of its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to local government councils. He urged the appointees to work hard to ensure that the yearning of the people were met.

That’s according Carlos Forjanes and Agustin Martin of AS, who write that “the centre-back has already reached an agreement with the English club.” The piece goes on to state the aforementioned salary is well in excess of the €7.5 million (£5.3 million) yearly offer made by Los Blancos; it’s also noted that Ramos wants an annual wage of €10 million (£7.1 million).

Jos, Nigeria - At least 44 people were killed in twin bomb blasts in the central Nigerian city of Jos, the emergency services said on Monday, after a wave of mass casualty attacks blamed on Boko Haram militants. Sunday's bombings took the death toll from raids, explosions and suicide attacks to 267 this month alone and to 524 since Muhammadu Buhari became president on May 29, according to an AFP count.
