Reps accuse Amaechi of budget padding

Reps spokesperson, Abdulrazak Namdas said Amaechi tried to smuggle in the Lagos-Calabar railway project after Buhari had presented the budget. The House of Representatives have accused the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi of attempting to pad the budget. Adams Oshiomhole The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has accused the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole of reckless spending. Ize-Iyamu also accused Oshiomhole of abandoning the cement factory that was started by former Governor Lucky Igbinedion. He said the Governor did not have any developmental plan for Edo state. Two die, UNIPORT shut as students protest fee payment

TWO students of the University of Port Harcourt were on Monday feared killed during a protest over an alleged policy by the management of the institution that school fees must be paid before they would be allowed to take their first semester examinations. One of the students identified as Peter Ofurun, who was said to have been hit by a bullet from a policeman, died instantly. Another student also hit by a bullet was rushed to the hospital, even as sources claimed that she died on the way to the hospital.

Okorocha, Ikpeazu disclose killers of Hausa-Fulani herdsmen

Umuahia - Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and his Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, said the five Fulani herdsmen killed in a forest along the border of the two states was an act of kidnapping carried out by miscreants. The governors spoke on Monday in Umuahia while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a Joint Security Council meeting of the two states. Ikpeazu said that kidnapping had become a recurring decimal in the area, adding that the meeting was convened to make a bold statement on the security challenges that confronted both states.

In coming months, users of Facebook's Messenger app, Microsoft's Skype and Canada's Kik can expect to find new automated assistants offering information and services at a variety of businesses. These messaging "chatbots" are basically software that can conduct human-like conversation and do simple jobs once reserved for people. David Cameron has defended his family's financial affairs as he faced MPs two days after publishing his own tax details. Former President Goodluck Jonathan The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, on Monday opened his defence before a Federal High Court in Abuja, where he is being prosecuted for money laundering and charges bordering on the N400m he received from the Office of the National Security Adviser. Metuh’s first witness, Mr. Ike Abonyi, who described himself as a journalist and a public relations consultant, said in his testimony that the N400m was released to the PDP spokesperson by the ONSA in 2014 on the instruction of the then President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

EU allocates N20bn to rehabilitate captured Boko Haram members

FILE PHOTO: Two arrested Boko Haram suspects The European Union (EU) said on Monday in Abuja that it had allocated 67 million euro (about 20 billion naira) for the rehabilitation and re-integration of captured Boko Haram members. Mr Richard Young, the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Nigeria, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), after the launch of Nigeria’s “De-radicalisation Programme Guide.” The Guide was prepared under the European Union Technical Assistance to Nigeria’s Evolving Security Challenges and launched by the National Security Adviser (NSA),retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno.
