The House of Representatives in South Carolina has voted to take down the Confederate flag from capitol grounds after a long and fractious debate. The House approval, by 93-27, follows a similar move in the Senate and, after a final procedural vote, the bill will go to the governor for signature.

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained its position that the $2,1 billion Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) component of the bailout for states was the initiative of the immediate past administration. The administration, led by Goodluck Jonathan, saved the funds, contrary to claims by the Presidency. Sources close to the Boko Haram leaders have said that informal discussions between the administration of the President Muhammadu Buhari and the insurgents are currently going on.
