South Africa lawmakers reject bid to impeach Zuma over Bashir saga

South Africa's parliament on Tuesday rejected investigating President Jacob Zuma for possible impeachment for allowing Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to evade an arrest warrant and leave the country in June. Bashir, accused of masterminding genocide in Darfur, was allowed to leave an African Union summit in South Africa and fly home, in defiance of a local court ruling ordering his detention under a warrant from the International Criminal Court.

The Federal High Court has been urged to nullify the major appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari on the grounds that they were made in breach of the principle of the Federal Character as contained in the Constitution. The request was filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International and Igbo Youths Democrats, through their lawyer, Marcel Dim-Udebuani.

Arrested suspect’s fingerprints match those on bomb-making material, Thai police say

Thai police said Wednesday that the fingerprints of a foreign man arrested at Thailand’s border with Cambodia match those found on a bottle containing bomb-making material, as the investigation into last month’s deadly bombing in Bangkok gathered steam. National police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said authorities were still conducting DNA tests but could determine that “this man is important and is related or conspired with people who committed” the Aug. 17 bombing at the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok. The blast left 20 people dead, more than half of them foreigners, and over 120 injured.

New Google logo: what is behind the change

The new font for the search giant’s name includes the same colours as the previous font. But serif font is so August, 2015 — the new font is a sans-serif variety. There is also a new compact version of the logo that shows just the letter ‘G’ in the company’s red, yellow, green and blue colours.
