Kanye West CRIES in Zane Lowe interview on Radio 1: "That’s never happened to me in an interview before"

The Power rapper was given a minute or two as he welled up over the death of his friend, the late Louise Wilson


Kanye West is known for his emotionally charged performances, not to mention the rants, and this time he sat down for a chat with Radio 1's Zane Lowe and was left in tears.

The rapper, who performed last night at the Brits 2015, got extremely emotional when talking about the "greatest fashion instructor of all time" Louise Wilson, who died in May last year.

Kanye attended the professor's memorial service along with the likes of Victoria Beckham ahead of London Fashion Week, and described his last meeting with his friend and mentor at London's Hakkasan.

"I think she knew she was gonna pass," he told the radio host as he said that she described her as the "baddest professor of all time".

Affectionately describing how influential that Wilson was on his life, Kanye was inspired with how Wilson pushed her students, stating that she was "notorious for not letting people stop at a 7 or 8," but would push for a 12 and create the likes of Alexander McQueen.

"So many students, they don't give it their all," he said recalling their conversation.

Of trying to get the best out of his daughter with wife Kim Kardashian, Kanye also revealed the advice that Wilson gave him: “She just looked at me and said: ‘Kanye, don’t clap’."

Kanye was then reduced to tears and could be heard breaking down during the interview, with Lowe asking if Kanye needed a minute to get himself together.

"That’s never happened to me in an interview before," he said as he came back on air and later admitted that talking about Wilson was "kinda hard for me".

Along with Kanye and Victoria, designers including John Rocha and Donna Karen to pay their respects at the ceremony in St Paul's Cathedral, London.

Prof Wilson, who was the director of Central Saint Martins MA fashion degree, had been credited with training a string of British fashion designers.

These included Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and Stella McCartney.

The 52-year-old also worked as a design director for Donna Karan in New York between 1997 and 2002.

In 2008, she received an OBE for her services to fashion and to education.

Other famous faces who attended the memorial included Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet and Harold Tillman, former head of the British Fashion Council.

Shortly after Prof Wilson's death in May last year, the Council announced the news on its website and expressed its "deep sadness".
