Zik’s Son, Owelle Of Onitsha Is Dead


Chief Chukwuma Bamidele Azikiwe, first son of the late first President of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe has passed on.

He died on Sunday night at Borromeo hospital, near their Inositol Onira, Onitsha native residence. He was aged 75.

LEADERSHIP learnt that Chukwuma who ascended his late father’s traditional throne as the Owelle of Onitsha following the demise of the elderstatesman in 1995 died of respiratory complications.Meanwhile, the news about his demise was sketchy at the time of filing this report because the incident was still being handled according to the Onitsha customs and tradition because of his position as a High Chief in the ancient town.
