INEC extends deadline for PVC collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission has again extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards by two weeks.

The new deadline for collection of PVCs is now March 22 as against the March 8 deadline.

This was made known in a statement by Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega.

Following the postponement of the elections in February, INEC fixed March 8 as the deadline for collection of PVCS by registered voters.

Over 78 per cent of 68,833,476 voters registered for the forthcoming elections have collected their cards. As at February 27, the commission said 54,377,747 cards had been distributed to voters, representing 78.93 percent collection rate, INEC said.

This latest extension offers the last opportunity for duly registered persons to collect their PVCs before the general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11, INEC said.
“INEC hereby calls on registered persons that are yet to collect their PVCs to use this last opportunity in doing so, in order to participate in the forthcoming general elections,” the commission added.
