Anisulowo’s abductors threatened to deal with me, IG – Amosun

In an open disclosure of his encounter with the abductors of the former minister of state for education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has said he as well as the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and other top security heads were threatened for getting involved in the mission to rescue the former minister.
Speaking on the incident yesterday, the governor said, “They even said because I got involved they increased the ransome from N100 million to N200 million. They insisted from the second day that their ransom was N200 million. They said they had wanted to collect N100 million and I told them that they would face the law, and that it was in their interest to release her.”

Stressing that Anisulowo’s abductors were deeply angry of the high profile interest in the matter, Amusu added, “They threatened me and every other person. They said they would teach me, the IG, the Brigade Commander and all others a lesson. They were abusing everybody on phone, but we thank God the way it is resolved. All glory to God.”
He said the gang first insisted on N200 million ransom, which they later reduced to N150m, but that no money was paid at the end to get freedom for Anisulowo. “I can say it authoritatively that no kobo was paid to them. Of course, we did all that we are supposed to do. They reduced the ransom to N150 million, we asked them to come and take, but they did not come. We didn’t pay a kobo to anybody. We thank God that she is here live.”
The governor personally drove the vehicle that took the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain back to Ilaro about 11.00 Tuesday night.
Speaking of her experience earlier, the rescued former minister disclosed that she did not eat but was only on drinking water throughout her seven-day in captivity..
The 65-year-old Anisulowo, who arrived Government House, Isale-Igbehin, Abeokuta about 10 pm with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said she had not eaten since she was kidnapped, and that her ordeal was ”terrible and dehumanizing” one.
