B’Haram planning attacks with explosive-laden goats, camels

Nigerians beware and be warned. On Thursday, the federal government raised the alarm that Boko Haram insurgents were planning to attack political rallies, worship centres and markets with camels, goats and donkeys laden with explosives. The government said intelligence reports indicated that the insurgents were also planning to use young men disguised as cobblers to attack Automated Teller Machines, restaurants and other places. Coordinator of the National Information Centre on the war against terrorism, Mr. Mike Omeri, at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, said security agencies and related organisations had been alerted to take necessary steps to forestall such attacks.

After his seeming endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan and then shortly afterwards the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), and promising to mobilise retired military generals to support the latter, former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), on Thursday decided to be more generous with his support, saying that he endorses all 14 presidential candidates in the forthcoming election.

War Threat: FG denies Niger Delta Militants

The Federal Government officially reacted on Thursday to the war threat by ex- Niger Delta militants, saying it was reprehensible. The condemnation came barely a day after a former Minister of Defence, Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, called for their arrest and seven days after the ex-militants made the threat at the Government House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Fayose insists Buhari is sick, wants him in hospital

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has advised the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to allow the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, to seek medical care abroad. Fayose has controversially claimed that Buhari is not healthy and recently placed an advert in newspapers to that effect. The governor, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleged that Buhari was to seek medical care in the US recently but the trip was cancelled because the “secret” was leaked to the media, reported online news medium, The Cable.
