MASSOB holds Biafra Day May 30

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has  slated Biafra National day celebration for May 30, 2014 at MASSOB Freedom Square, Okwe in Onuimo Council Area of Imo state.
The National day celebration according to the MASSOB National Director of Information, Mr. Uchenna Madu, is aimed at showcasing and celebrating those that had made tremendous sacrifices for the overall interests of the Eastern Region and her people, thereby encouraging others to emulate them.
Madu said: “Many prominent Easterners participated actively and championed the    struggle for Nigeria’s Independence, some stood against the political odds against Igbos and Easterners in general, some eloquently fought against Nigeria Federal Government aggression against Biafrans.
“In many field of life, numerous extraordinary people of the East showcased their potentials in defending, fighting, promoting and developing the integrity, culture, tradition, prestige, honour and creativity of the people of Eastern Region.”

Those to be honoured include, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Gen. Philip Efiong, Dr. Ralph Uwazuruike, Chief Mbonu Ojike, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Michael Okpara, Ezeogo Francis Akanu Ibiam, Sir Nwafo Orizu, Chief Sam Mbakwe, Chief Asari Dokubo, Isaac Adaka Boro, Ken Saro Wiwa.”
Others are Senator Uche Chukwumerije, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Peter Obi, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, Philip Emeagwali, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, Chimamanda Adiche, Chinua Achebe, Sen. Igwe Nwagu, Chief Ifeanyi Uba, Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Sir Emeka Offor, Chief Mrs. Magret Ekpo among others.
