Student 'Rapes' Girl After Promising To Charge Her Phone

26-year-old student, Fashanu, is in trouble after he was accused of raping a lady he promised to help... but he says he is innocent

A 26-year-old student, Ibrahim Fashanu, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly raping a lady on the 12th of September.

According to the Prosecutor, Corporal Francesca Okere, the accused raped his 21-year-old victim on the pretext of helping her charge her phone battery.

He allegedly committed the crime in his apartment located at No. 89, Okesuna Street on Lagos Island, Okere told the court.

“The complainant was stranded and needed to charge her phone; so, she approached Fashanu to help her to charge it.

“Fashanu later beckoned to the complainant from where she was standing to enter into his apartment," the corporal said.

Okere said the accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of the lady after she entered his apartment, an offence which is punishable under Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Fashanu pleaded guilty to the charge after which the Magistrate, Mr M.L. Owolabi, granted him N300, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till the 24th of September.
