Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin 'finalise divorce after splitting £120million fortune equally'

The stars, who "consciously uncoupled" a year ago have now finalised the end of their marriage and papers are expected to be filed in court

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have sealed the deal on divorce agreeing to divide everything equally.

According to reports in the US, papers ending their 10 years were to be filed today.

The couple managed to avoid costly lawyer's fees after using their business managers to thrash out a settlement involving both property and custody.

Despite the divorce documents citing irreconcilable differences sources close to the couple say it could not have been more amicable between them.

The details of their divorce are set to remained sealed but it understood the couple have agree to half their £120million fortune equally as well as share joint custody of their two children, Apple 10, and Moses, eight.

Earlier this month Paltrow, 42, and Martin, 38, enjoyed a family holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The Shakespeare in Love star famously announced they were separating 12 months ago when she took to her GOOP website to say they were “conscious uncoupling”.

Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence, 24, while Paltrow is reported to be dating Glee creator Brad Falchuk.


The 44-year-old first met Gwyneth in 2009 after the Shakespeare in Love star appeared musical comedy-drama playing a substitute Spanish teacher.

The two were have said to have formed a close friendship at the time both were married.

According to reports in the US the split was so friendly Martin asked Paltrow to file the divorce papers.

Following the split the singer opened up about his marriage when discussing his band’s new album Ghost Stories with Radio 1’s Zane Lowe last April.

He said: "I wouldn't use the word breakdown,

"This was more a realisation about trying to grow up basically. Like I said, if you can't open yourself up, you can't appreciate the wonder inside.

"So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way. What changed for me was I don't want to go through life being scared of it, being scared of love, being scared of rejection, being scared of failure.

“About two years ago I was a mess really because I can't enjoy the thing that we are good at and I can't enjoy the great things around me because I'm burdened by this—I've got to not blame anyone else and make some changes."
