Akpom Scores Hat-Trick as Arsenal Reach Asia Trophy Final

Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom scored a hat-trick to help his club advance into the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore on Wednesday.

The Gunners thrashed Singapore Select XI 4-0, with Akpom- eligible for Nigeria despite having represented England at youth level- and Jack Wilshere getting among the goals.

The Gunners set up fellow Premier a League side Everton in the final of the tournament which comes up on Saturday.

Akpom pounced on a loose ball to open scoring and then completed his brace from the penalty spot after Wilshere had converted a spot kick of his own.

Full-back Hector Bellerin assisted the 19-year-old for his third.

“Scoring a goal (for Arsenal) is the best feeling for men ever, and to get three tonight was even more important, but most importantly the team won- I’m happy about that,” declared Akpom after the match.

Another Nigerian (by blood) Alex Iwobi also started for the second-string Arsenal side.
