Buhari promises quick intervention in North East

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the Federal Government will soon embark on the rebuilding and rehabilitation of all villages, towns, houses, markets and places of worships in all communities displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
The President, who was represented by his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo said he was personally sent to Maiduguri to assess the conditions of the IDPs and see how best the Federal Government would work with the Borno State government, international organizations to resettle the IDPs.

He said despite the scarce resources, the Federal Government took the issue of the IDPs with outmost concern, hence the visit to ensure that the traumatized and suffering IDPs did not stay longer in the camps.


Vice President Osinbajo also commended Governor Kashim Shettima and the Borno state Government over the way they had handled the welfare of the IDPs in the state.

The Vice President said, “the Federal Government is not just concerned about the resettlement of the IDPs but to ensure the reconstruction and rehabilitation of their villages, communities, houses, markets and places of worships.”

While at the Shehus Palace, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi called on President Buhari to redeem their pledge of rebuilding all affected communities and provide jobs to the teeming youths of the state, more especially into the military and para military outfits.

He also commended President Buhari and the Vice President Osinbajo for their concern with the issue of the IDPs in the state and North-east in general.


While in Maiduguri, the Vice President also visited the University Of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he sympathized with the victims of Bomb blasts and insurgency in the state.
