Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to quash any speculation surrounding his future at Real Madrid by saying he wants to end his career at the club.


The Real attacker has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the previous two transfer windows, prompted by suggestions that he is not entirely happy at the Bernabeu.


The arrival of Gareth Bale in a world record move from Tottenham in 2013 and the departure of head coach Carlo Ancelotti last summer were both rumoured to have unsettled Ronaldo, who reacted in a bizarrely petulant way when Bale scored in March.

The 30-year-old also walked out of a television interview in July when asked about his plans to extend his Real contract. There were also widespread reports in Spain that he was unhappy with the training ground methods of new coach Rafael Benitez.

But, speaking at a ceremony to mark his winning of the European Golden Shoe award, Ronaldo insisted he wants to finish his playing days at Real.

He said: "Logically, I have a contract until I am 33 and - as I have said a number of times - my dream is to finish here with Real Madrid.


"I am settled here, I'm useful here and I want to continue at the club. I want to win and I am at the best club in the world.

"I'm not satisfied yet - I always want more. Real Madrid have to win silverware every season and this year is no different. We want to win the league, the Champions League, the cup - everything."

Benitez, for his part, offered a glowing tribute to Ronaldo at the ceremony for the Golden Shoe award.

He said: "When a player wins this trophy once it's a big achievement, but to win four at this level means that we are talking about a true professional, a lot of hard work, perseverance, an eagerness to kick on and, as he has said himself, a team behind him giving him the support he needs.

"This is a player who is not only smashing records, but who is still hungry for more, full of ambition and capable of improving on his figures even further."
