David Haye to fight Mark De Mori in January comeback as bid to become heavyweight champion again begins

Announcing the fight - to take place at the O2 on January 16 - Haye said: "Please sit back and get ready for another fun-fuelled heavyweight campaign to the very top"

Comeback target: Haye wants to become heavyweight champion once again against De Mori

David Haye claims he can become world heavyweight champion again after confirming his comeback this morning.

The former WBA title holder will return to the ring on January 16 at London's O2 against Aussie Mark De Mori for his first fight since beating Dereck Chisora in July 2012.

Haye, who has 24 stoppages from his 26 wins and two losses, will be trained by Shane McGuigan, who has guided Carl Frampton to the IBF super-bantamweight title.

Haye, 36, twice pulled out of fights against Tyson Fury before having reconstructive shoulder surgery and believes WBA top-10 ranked De Mori will be his first step back to the top.

"It's been a long three-and-a-half years out, with many ups and downs, but The Hayemaker is finally back, and ready to do what I do best.
