Now you'll be able to live stream 360 degree videos on YouTube, providing even more content for virtual reality users

Virtual Reality is here, so now its time for the rest of the world to start furiously producing cotent for a new kind of user.

A big part of that push is going to be in the arena of 360 degree video, providing an immersive experience where VR users (and everyone else) can look in any direction they want and really feel enveloped by the action. YouTube is at the forefront of this revolution (quite naturally) and it has just introduced live 360 degree video streaming.

That's a pretty huge milestone as the concept of live streaming events is still a relatively recent phenomenon on the internet. Now you'll be able to look anywhere you want at a thing that's happening right now! They're pitching it as a way to feel like you're truly there, at an event that you wouldn't otherwise be able to attend.

The tech will get its first airing at the Coachella music festival in California over the upcoming weekend with select sets being live streamed in 360 and a whole lot more content on the way. YouTube is also rolling out spatial audio for on-demand videos - which is designed to give each sound a sense of depth and presence depending on where you're looking. You can give it a try in the playlist below, it's definitely better with headphones.
