Gunmen Kill 18 In Adamawa, Plateau
Less than 48 hours after gunmen struck at the border village of Izge
in Borno State, killing 106 persons, another set of gunmen suspected to
be Boko Haram insurgents on Monday night attacked Galga village in Ga’anda District of Gombi local government area of Adamawa State, killing 11 persons.
An eye witness account said the gunmen in their numbers struck at the village at about 8:30pm and started shooting randomly in all directions leading to serious confusion as people scampered for safety.
According to the eyewitness, the police only came to the village the next morning after the damage had been done.
Another resident of Gaanda District who simply identified himself as Shehu decried the security situation in the area, saying if government does not rise to the occasion, very soon Boko Haram will take over the entire North East as they seem to be gaining the upper hand against the soldiers in the ongoing onslaught.
The police public relations officer, Adamawa State Command, DSP Muhammed Ibrahim confirmed the attack although he could not say how many persons were killed.
Efforts to contact the army public relations officer, Captain Nuhu Jafaru, could not yield positive result as he said he would investigate the matter, promising to call back but had not done so as at the time of filing this report.
The insurgents were armed to the teeth with sophisticated weapons and could not be repelled by the natives who only had dane guns, machetes and bows and arrows to defend themselves.
Meanwhile, not less than seven people were feared killed in Gero village of Jos South local government area of Plateau State by unknown gunmen.
According to reliable sources, the gunmen attacked the car in which some passengers were traveling and killed all the passengers.
It is gathered that those killed were all traders who were returning from a village market in the locality.
When contacted, the public relations officer of the Plateau Police Command, DSP Felicia Anslem confirmed the sad development to our correspondent in Jos.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to also get the spokesman of the special task force on Jos crisis, Captain Salisu Mustapher to comment failed as his mobile phone was switched off.
