Confab: South East govs meet in Enugu, review Igbo participation

Enugu-gov.-chime
South-East governors met yesterday in Enugu to review the participation of representatives from the region at the ongoing national conference.
The Chairman of South-East Governors’ Forum and Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, who briefed journalists after the meeting that lasted for over three hours, said that the report they got was that the representatives of the region were presently doing very well.
The national conference kicked off in earnest on Monday as the confab’s members went on break after the inauguration.
He said the South-East governors used the meeting to formally welcome Governor Willie Obiano into their fold after Chief Peter Obi left office on March 17.
Orji said that they also reviewed the security situation in the region.
Recall that security has been generally beefed up in Government Houses in the South-East following the recent attack on Enugu Government House by members of the Biafra Zion Movement (BZM), who vowed to hoist their flags in Enugu and Imo Government Houses and thereafter, take over the region.

The police in Enugu have, however, declared the leader of BZM, Mr Ben Onwuka, wanted.
The governors at the meeting included the host governor, Mr Sullivan Chime, Dr Willie Obiano of Anambra; Chief Theodore Orji of Abia and Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi, who was represented by his deputy, Dave Umahi, while Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was absent.
