FIRE GUTS EKITI PDP SECRETARIAT
Part of the Ekiti State secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party located on Ajilosun road, Ado Ekiti, was gutted by fire yesterday. The incident, which came four days after the controversial primary election of the party, affected the upper part of the secretariat, with the chairman’s office badly damaged.
Although the cause of the fire was still unknown at the time this report was filed, sources said the fire started at about 5.30am.
Residents of the area said they had to raise the alarm when they noticed that the building was on fire. When our correspondent visited the office, he observed policemen station at the premises.
The party is yet to issue a statement on the matter, but the state police spokesman, Victor Babayemi, said investigation has commenced.
He said no arrest has been made, but assured that those behind the incident will be tracked down and made to face the law. Meanwhile, the party has set up its governorship campaign team for the election.
