Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed yesterday by rain in the commercial city of Onitsha in Anambra State.
Though no casualty was reported at the time of this report, the heavy rain destroyed buildings in various parts of the commercial city and its environs.
The building housing the Circulation Department of The Sun Publishing Limited at Old Market Road, Onitsha was not spared as a coconut tree  beside fell on the roof of the house, destroying many property.
At Okpoko in Ogbaru council area of the state, many structures including residential and commercial buildings were pulled down by the rain which started at noon after a heavy wind.
It was also gathered that a two-storey building under construction collapsed at Atani in Ogbaru council area of the state during the heavy rain while a recharge card seller on Onitsha-Owerri Road lost all her  cards and other valuables to the rain.

In other neighbouring towns, such as Nkpor, Ogidi and Obosi all in Idemili North council area, rainstorm also destroyed installations belonging to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Corporation (EEDC) masts belonging to some telecommunication companies.
