The BringBackOurGirls Group has stated that it would engage the media in the country in a bid to enlighten them and all Nigerians on the reason for its campaign, which is the safe release of the Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by the Boko Haram sect on April 14 this year.
The group, during its sit-out session yesterday, stated that the media engagement, which would be part of its activities to mark Day 130 since the girls were abducted, would also be to reiterate the groups commitment to continue with its campaign until the girls were returned to their families.
It, however, expressed its displeasure with the Guild of Editors, who, it said, had backed out of the planned meeting with the group ahead of Day 130, with the reason that the groups activities were anti-government.
The BBOG Group wondered why the fourth estate of the realm, which was supposed to fight for the masses and confront the government when it was wrong, would refuse to identify with the group, whose singular aim was the safe return of the abducted girls.

If the media are scared to confront the government when it is wrong, what is there for us then? They are supposed to put the government on their toes. If they dont do that, then who will? it said.
The group stated that it was not against the government, but rather sought to remind it of its duty to ensure the safety of the Nigerian people.
To step up its campaign, the group had earlier agreed to meet with political and religious leaders in the country. It had also called on churches, mosques and the entertainment industry to lend their voices to the advocacy for the safe return of the abducted girls.
