You talking to me? Louis van Gaal had a war of words with a Swansea City director

Louis van Gaal was branded an “arrogant b******” by a gloating Swansea director at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

And Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has stoked his own feud with the Manchester United boss by claiming that he puts so much pressure on his own players that they play scared.

Wallpaper tycoon John van Zweden rubbed Van Gaal’s nose in the Swans’ 2-1 win over United on Twitter by posting a picture of himself indicating the score with his fingers.

And Van Zweden, who bought a 25 per cent stake in Swansea for £50,000 in 2002, added the message: “Dear Louis. Sleep well mate 6 points and The double. @SwansOfficial @ManUtd 2-1 again!!! #easy

Swansea completed their first-ever home-and-away double over United at the weekend.

The Red Devils’ defeat at the Liberty stadium left Van Gaal’s hopes of restoring Champions League football to Old Trafford in the balance, with arch-rivals Liverpool closing to within two points of fourth-placed United.

And Van Zweden, whose dislike of LVG is rooted in the Dutch rivalry between their birthplaces – The Hague and Amsterdam - revelled in Van Gaal’s discomfort.

The United manager’s pre-match claim that his side were the best in the Premier League after one defeat in 19 games prompted Van Zweden to respond: “Yes, and I find him an arrogant b******.”

A Dutch TV crew followed Van Zweden to the Liberty for Swansea’s famous win ahead of a documentary which is due to be screened in Holland on Thursday.

Van Zweden’s feud with Van Gaal was stoked on the opening day of the season, when Garry Monk’s team gatecrashed the dawn of a new era at United with a shock 2-1 win.

He claims Van Gaal snubbed the Swansea delegation at lunch in the boardroom before Van Zweden called over to him: “Hey, Louis, I’m going to take three points back to the Hague, you silly s**.”

Van Zweden, 52, claimed that Van Gaal turned round and allegedly replied: “‘I’ll see you after the match and we’ll see if you still have the gift of the gab then.’ I didn’t see him after the game.”

Dejected: United's players look on as Ki Sung-Yueng scores the first Swansea goal

A Dutch TV crew followed Van Zweden to the Liberty for Swansea’s famous win as part of a documentary which is due to be screened in Holland on Thursday.

When they caught up with Van Gaal after United’s defeat and asked if he would like to shake hands with Van Zweden, he replied: “No, he only talks rubbish.”

Van Gaal, who insisted United were unlucky to lose at Swansea after dominating the game, faces a battle to qualify for the Champions League on reduced firepower.

Top scorer Robin van Persie faces an extended lay-off after leaving the ground on crutches with an injured right ankle, while £285,000-a-week striker Radamel Falcao has struggled to produce his best form.
