Why we introduced card readers – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said the introduction of card readers will add value to electoral system in the country.

The INEC National Commissioner in charge of Lagos, Ondo and Osun states, Prof. Akinola Salawu, stated this during an evaluation visit to Ondo State on Monday

The INEC boss assured that the card readers would help to ensure free, fair and credible elections in the country.

He said the card readers had the ability to detect all forms of electoral frauds that might be perpetrated by voters during elections.

Salawu urged those who had not collected their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) to do so without delay.

The visit, he said, was to evaluate areas that the electoral body could add value and block any loopholes that might compromise the outcome of the March 28 and April 11 elections.

Salawu said INEC was ready to improve on the successes it recorded in the previous elections.
