APC NEC meeting underway, may finally agree on zoning formula on key national offices

 Meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC was underway late last night.

The meeting which held at the Rivers State Governor’s lodge located along Hassan Usman Katsina street, Asokoro Abuja was expected to rectify the zoning of offices in the incoming government.

Senate presidency and speakership of the House of Representatives were among such offices which the meeting was expected to look into.

Also, the meeting was expected to rectify the list of names to be incorporated on the transition committee.

Last week, the National Working Committee, NWC, met twice after the president-elect, General Mohammadu Buhari directed the party leadership to set up a transition technical committee that would interface with that of the federal government but the NWC couldn’t reach a compromise on the issues.

This prompted the summoning of the NEC meeting which is the highest decision making body of the APC.

Vanguard correspondent who monitored the event witnessed the arrival of the president-elect and the Vice president-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to the venue of the meeting which became agog with activities as early as 8:30 pm.

The national leader of the party and former Lagos Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu was also present at the meeting.

Vanguard can also report that all serving governors, governors-elect, senators-elect, House of Representatives members-elect of APC and indeed most chieftains of the party also featured.

Journalists were however barred from entering the compound as some security men at the gate said “it is not a media event”.

The National publicity of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was not handy and didn’t pick up his phone for enquires.

It was expected that the meeting which a source from within said was done behind closed doors would raise a communique.

But as at 9:pm when this report was filed, there was no communique as the meeting was still ongoing.
