WATCH: New ‘Daily Show’ Host Trevor Noah ‘Seduces’ Stephen Fry on ‘QI’

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show appears to have a soft spot for expats, acting as an American career launching pad for Englishman John Oliver and now South African comedian Trevor Noah, who will be taking over full-time hosting duties with Daily Show host Jon Stewart stepping down, announced today (March 30).Noah, 31 years old, must have made an impression on Stewart and the other Comedy Central decision-makers having only appeared on the show three times as a correspondent.

If you’re a regular watcher of the BBC show QI, you may recognize Noah from his role as a guest panelist. After Noah gives the panel a language lesson on Zulu click-singing, host Stephen Fry turns to him saying, “You’ve seduced me … not that you wanted to”:
So far we know Noah has appeared on The Daily Show and QI, but what you may not know is that he had his own late night show in South Africa and speaks eight languages, according to Yahoo! TV.
Michele Ganeless, Comedy Central president, released a statement saying:
“Trevor Noah is an enormous talent. He has an insightful and unique point of view, and most importantly, is wickedly funny. For the next host of The Daily Show, we set out to find a fresh voice who can speak to our audience with a keen take on the events of the day, and we found that in Trevor. He has a huge international following and is poised to explode here in America, and we are thrilled to have him join Comedy Central.”
