John Obi Mikel wanted by Turkish club in January


Nigeria international, John Obi Mikel has been mentioned by Turkish Super League club, Besiktas as a possible transfer target in January.

The Chelsea midfielder, hasn’t enjoyed enough playing time at the Stamford Bridge and Besiktas club President Fikret Oman is looking to maximise that situation to offer the Nigerian more playing time. Fikret Oman opined that Besiktas are thinking of a move for John Obi Mikel.
According to Fantik, club president Fikret Oman stated that the Turkish club monitored the Nigeria international last summer and may renew their interest during the January window.

“If the coach, Senol Gunes had given the go ahead we were going to sign Mikel and we could enter the race again over the winter break.” Fikret stated

John Obi Mikel grew from the ranks having played at the U17 and U20 level for Nigeria, he has played an important role for Nigeria at senior level and just recently he was in action for the Super Eagles in two international friendlies.

John Obi Mikel has won two Premier League trophies, four FA Cups, two League Cups, and one FA Community Shield. On the continent, he has the UEFA Champions League and Europa League once.

For Nigeria, Mikel won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and he was part of the 2005 Flying Eagles team that won Silver at the FIFA U20 World Cup and he played at the FIFA World Cup ‘Brazil 2014’.
