Halle Berry's ex David Justice clarifies explosive Twitter rant after claiming actress tried to destroy his character

Justice later said he wasn't trying to "bash" Halle but just wanted to make sure no one thought the abusive ex Halle had previously spoken about was him

Justice later deleted most of his tweets

Halle Berry's ex David Justice has attempted to set the record straight after slamming the star in a bitter Twitter rant.

Former pro baseball player Justice, who was married to the actress from 1992 to 1997, took to Twitter on Tuesday to say he had been wrongly identified as the former partner who had attacked her in the past and left her with permanent damage to one of her ears.He also claimed she tried to destroy his character after they split and warned her most recent ex Olivier Martinez that the same thing could happen to him.

Halle, 49, has previously spoken about her experience with an abusive ex although has never named him, but it's unclear why he decided to bring it up now.

"She's never insinuated that it was him or anyone and only spoke about it to empower women," a source told Mirror Celebs.

"There was also no nastiness to her divorce - no custody battles or anything so there's really no reason for any of this."

In a series of tweets - some of which have now been deleted - he wrote: "Reading the latest Halle Berry reports, it wasn't me who hit Halle causing the ear damage. Halle has never said that I hit her. It was a former Hollywood boyfriend that she told me! #getyourfactsright."

He continued: "[Halle] was mad at me leaving the relationship so she and her Hollywood Team just tried to destroy my character. It had to be my fault, right?"

"Yup... Me, Eric, Gabriel and Olivier were all her 'Knight in Shining Armor', until it ends... Then we all become the worst guys in history (sic)."

Over: The pair split after two years of marriage

"Only the guys in the relationship with Halle know the real deal... there will be another of course. He'll be called 'The Best' until it ends."

"It just makes me mad to still see the same lie being perpetuated about the source of her abuse being me. Never happened!#formerboyfriend."

Halle's ex Eric Benet, who Justice mentioned in one of his tweets, then waded in: "My man at @23davidjustice is tweeting some truth dis' morning! (sic)."

Clarifying his posts, Justice later took to Twitter to say he had no intention of "bashing" his ex but as he has three children he didn't want anyone to think he had been abusive in the past.

that I hit Halle. My mom didn't raise me that way. Now,I'll go back into my little small place on this earth and be quiet....Peace!

The kids in my community, coaching baseball, football and basketball.Say what you want about me because I'm far from perfect, but don't say

What has been so regularly reported over the years. Now that Halle has confirmed the truth,I will go back to my coaching and mentoring

She could've squashed them at that time.I have 3 kids and a wife for 15 years. It was important that my kids knew that their dad didn't do

My intention was not to bash Halle,as I specifically said that Halle has NEVER verbally said it.I just wished that when the rumors were out

I just want to thank Halle for finally squashing all of the rumors in the past, that I had physically abused her, causing the hearing loss.
