Taraba: Appeal Court Upholds Removal Of Sen Abba

A Court of Appeal sitting in Yola yesterday upheld the ruling of Taraba State Election Petitions Tribunal which sacks Senator Bashir Marafa Abba of PDP as senator representing Taraba central senatorial district.

The three judges that oversee the case, Justice Jummai Hanatu Sankey, Justice Doubele Abraham and Justice Maiwada unanimously agreed that the appeal filed by Marafa lacked merit hence its dismissal.
The judges in their judgement that lasted for about two hours agreed with the decision of the lower court sacking Marafa as senator representing Taraba central.

The election petitions tribunal had earlier sacked Senator Marafa for election malpractices and declare Yusuf of APC as the winner of the senatorial election.

Speaking after the judgement, the Taraba State chairman of APC, Alhaji Hassan Jika Ardo, expressed satisfaction with the verdict and lauded the judiciary for living up to expectation.

Ardo urged APC supporters in the state to continue to remain calm as the party continues its search for justice in the courts of law noting that with the present mindset of judges to uphold the truth, very soon the party will recover all of its stolen mandates.
