BREAKING NEWS: NFF APPOINTS NEW COACH FOR THE SUPER EAGLES TEAM

Following the voluntary resignation of Sunday Oliseh on Friday morning, a former striker has been reappointed as the head coach to handle the national team in the person of Samson Siasia.
He will be duly assisted by Nigeria’s Under-20 coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.

The NFF announced the recent developments on its website after a meeting of the Technical and Development Committee this afternoon.

According to Chris Green, Chairman of the Technical Committee, the coaching crew will work under the office of the NFF Technical Director Shaibu Amodu ahead of the crucial qualification duel against the Pharaohs.

We have decided as a matter of urgency to get a consortium of coaches to oversee the team in the mean time.
We have two very important matches coming up in [one in] Kaduna and the other in Cario which seem late in the time. [Oliseh’s resignation] came as a rude shock.
We were not guarded when this event happened. We need to do what we ought to get the best of the very bad situation.

He told reporters after the 3-hour meeting in Abuja.

Siasia will also return to take charge of the Super Eagles combined with leading the Dream Team VI to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later in the year
