Akwa United thrash Elkanemi, Enyimba win Shooting Stars in rescheduled NPFL games


Current champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Enyimba defeated Shooting Stars 2-0 on Wednesday, in a rescheduled Week Two fixture, played at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Abu Azeez gave the People’s Elephant the lead 12 minutes before the break, before Joseph Osadiaye confirmed their three points in the 88th minute, slotting home Mfon Udoh’s pass.

In another game, Akwa United picked their first away win of the season, with a 3-1 victory over El Kanemi Warriors in Katsina.

Emeka Isaac, Ubong Ekpai and Chigozie Emmanuel gave the Promise Keepers a commanding lead, before Ibrahim Mustapha pulled one back.

FC IfeanyiUbah secured a narrow 1-0 win against Nasarawa United in Nnewi and Wikki Tourists crushed Warri Wolves 4-0 in Bauchi.
