As action in the Nigeria Professional Football League entered its 21st week yesterday, Wikki Tourists recorded a goalless draw against Heartland FC of Owerri in at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

The win saw the Tourists make it 38 points from 21 games.

Rivers United defeated MFM FC of Lagos in Port Harcourt to move into second place, with the same number of points.

Austine Ogunye silenced the home crowd when he put the ball into the net in the 29th minute, but Guy Kuemian sent the stadium crazy when he levelled scores for the hosts two minutes later.

They took the lead for the first time in the game eight minutes later when Bernard Ovoke nodded the ball home from close range.

Kuemian scored his second of the game in the 66th minute to increase his side’s lead.

Yusuf Jaiyeola slotted home the fourth goal in the 68th minute to make the visitors’ work harder.

Former champions Enyimba fell to Shooting Stars 1-0 in Ibadan, thanks to Ibrashim Ajani’s 24th minute strike. The defeat suffered by Enyimba is their second since 2012 and the win for the Oluyole Warriors is the second recorded by Coach Gbenga Ogunbote in as many weeks, since he took charge.

A hapless Rangers side was piped 0-2 at the Rwang Pam Stadium by Plateau United. Goals from Joahus Obaje (51st minute) and John Kelechi (62nd minute) ensured the hosts buried their guests and take the game beyond them.
