Jack Wilshere prepares for Arsenal Premier League campaign after Euro failure: 'What's done is done, all I can do now is prepare for next season the best I can'

He returned for England but was part of the side knocked out by Iceland

Jack Wilshere is looking to put the disappointments of last season behind him as he gears up for Arsenal's Premier League campaign.

Judging by his Instagram account, Wilshere is hoping to forget a campaign that saw him sidelined with injury from pre-season in 2015 until April 2016.

The midfielder managed to return to fitness in time for England's ill-fated Euro 2016 campaign in France.

Roy Hodgson's side were knocked out in humiliating fashion by Iceland in the round of 16, with Wilshere introduced as a half-time substitute for Tottenham's Eric Dier in that game.

Wilshere posed while doing pull-ups on a bar above his shower, and his caption implied that he was keen to forget his troubled season.

He wrote: 'What's done is done, all I can do now is prepare for next season the best I can.'

The 24-year-old played three games at Euro 2016, although he only started the 0-0 draw against Slovakia in England's final group game.

He was substituted off after 55 minutes, continuing his record of not playing 90 minutes of football in a single game since he picked up his injury in summer 2015.

Wilshere will look to improve on his record for Arsenal last season. He totalled under 150 minutes for the Gunners in 2015-16.

The Stevenage-born Arsenal trainee has undergone something of a decline in his career over the last few seasons.

He was originally touted as one of the hottest prospects in the European game, but he has failed to play more than 30 Premier League games in a season since the 2010-11 campaign.
